The LEAD Global Forum was a virtual gathering in March 2021 of our global community of senior leaders at the forefront of the talent industry, working collectively towards rebuilding a new path forward.
A place where bold and creative strategies came to life and where collaboration drove meaningful change in the future of talent, skills, diversity and remote work for the years to come.
Leaders joined exceptional experiences across the week, live in their time zones, and each designed to uplift, inspire and connect.
Keynote: Macro trends driving change in the global talent landscape with Dr. Parag Khanna and Nina McQueen

- We are entering a global talent war, where countries and companies must find a way to attract and retain the world’s educated young people - a shrinking group. Nomad visas and fast track citizenship are just some of the ways countries are starting to compete.
- Young people are having less children, which equates to a more mobile, more flexible workforce. This means the demand for remote work and mobility within companies should increase as the global population begins to shrink for the first time in history.
- In the next few decades, we are going to be able to concretely measure in real-time where people are going; from where, to where, why they went, and how long they stayed due to digital mobility.
- Asian youth represents the world’s largest future talent market with India representing the largest population of highly educated migrants living in OECD nations.
- The hybrid working model has democratized access to opportunities and opens up greater access to different pools of talent.
- There is an increased need to evolve performance measurement. Organizations need to start measuring talent effectiveness and performance by understanding the behaviour behind an outcome, not just the outcome.
- Women are 26% more likely to go for a job advertised as remote (source: LinkedIn).
- Reskilling and up-skilling is essential to the modern workforce and for creating opportunities for existing talent as well as attracting new talent to organizations.
- Happiness at work increased by 5.4% from Dec 2019 to Dec 2020 but burnout is on the rise (Glint Employee Well-Being Report Feb 2021).
- Between August and December 2020, employee burnout rose by nearly 4%. This increase comes after burnout had already hit a two-year high in August 2020, when 5.41% of employee survey comments contained burnout signals (Glint Employee Well-Being Report Feb 2021).
· - “D&I used to be a side of the business, the cherry on top. Now we’ve realised it’s the core of our business, because people are the core of our business,” said Dr Atira Charles
- Wellness is the new frontier for diversity and inclusion initiatives and strategy.
- Prioritizing the qualitative lived experiences of D&I talent over quantitative D&I reports and adding a D&I agenda item to recurring meetings will help normalize conversations to approach D&I as a wellness objective.

- Social Resilience Leadership Tip: Give your team rituals. Rituals refresh our connection to our communities. For example: Every Friday we do_______. Each meeting we do_____.
- Normalize emotionality within your team. Simple words can give people a big sense of relief such as, “it’s ok to feel overwhelmed right now, anyone in your shoes would.”
- Incorporate movement breaks in meetings or beginning each meeting with a 4-7-8 breathing method.
- Distractions are everywhere, but neuroscience tells us that the brain is designed to instantly stop a random thought or action from getting us off track, but it takes training. When your brain has wandered, we must train it to come back to the present moment.
